Picture Day Antidote
Dance parents hate recital picture day.
Hate. It.
I know because I was a dance photographer, and this was my picture day web page.
Traditionally, parents spend tons of money on lessons, costumes, shoes, and recital fees. And then they have a chance to buy photos of their little dancer in costume. But here’s the kicker.
They must choose their packages and pay for the photos before the shoot, but only see them after they’re printed. It’s potentially hundreds of dollars down the drain if the photo is bad, and it causes a lot of tension for parents, kids, and photographer.
And to make matters worse, recital photoshoot day is always chaotic, behind schedule, and generally miserable. Parents complain to the studio owner, who just wants to take her 10% from the sale of the photos and be done with the whole experience. Every year.
I wrote this copy to persuade dance studio owners to hire me as their photographer by addressing the misery of picture day up front and offering the solution. And to drive home the point that my method was completely new and different to the traditional way of running recital photoshoots, I branded my process The Picture Day Antidote.
